Second half Florida College rally lifts them over Rochester College 75-72
BROKEN ARROW, OKLA -- Fifth-seeded Florida College used a 19-5 run over a five minute span late in the second half to rally and knock off top-seeded Rochester College 75-72 in the USCAA Men's Division I semifinals on Friday night.
The win puts Florida College against Oakwood University in Saturday's 7 pm CST championship game. Rochester faces Apprentice School for third place at 3 pm CST.
The Falcons trailed 65-54 with 6:02 left on a pair of Tyler Leipprandt free throws. Florida tied the game at 70-all with 1:45 left on an Ian Jones 3-pointer and took a 73-70 lead as Pete Alexandrou hit three free throws with the last two coming with 20 seconds left.
Alexandrou paced all scorers with 27 points, while Stanley Kelly had 14 and eight rebounds, Blake Elrod and Ian Jones scored 12 apiece for Florida College. Leipprandt paced Rochester with 21 and 13 rebounds, while Odai Baylor added 15 and John Djurovski scored 12 for the Warriors.
