The following are capsule summaries of the first day of play in the 2007 USCAA National Baseball Championship Tournament.

Game 1: Florida College 12, Penn State-Beaver 2 (5 innings) Box Score
Robby Woodke was 2-for-2 and drove in three runs, while Mike Stinson was 2-for-3 with two solo home runs as Florida College opened the tournament with a 12-2 victory over Penn State-Beaver. Clint Cleveland went five innings for Florida College allowing four hits and both runs. Drew Rodenbaugh had two of the four hits for the Nittany Lions going 2-for-2.

Game 2: Apprentice School 7, Florida College 5 Box Score
Matt Marshall was 3-for-3, all doubles, to aid the six inning effort of Joe Tugwell in the 7-5 Apprentice School victory over Florida College. Ryan Scott came in to earn the save in the seventh striking out two and a flyout with the bases loaded to close the game. Brent Wilson was 2-for-4 to lead Florida College.

Game 3: Apprentice School 4, Penn State-Beaver 3 Box Score
The winning run was scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning as the Apprentice School closed Pool B with a 4-3 victory over Penn State-Beaver. Bryce Beale was 2-for-4 for the Builders while Ryan Scott earned his second save of the day. Pat Ringel was 3-for-4 to lead the Nittany Lions who out hit the Builders 11-7.

Game 4: Columbia Union 5, Briarcliffe 3 Box Score
Charles Rupert and Mike Hernandez had two hits apiece while Bill Arpei drove in a pair as Columbia Union defeated Briarcliffe in a rematch of the 2006 USCAA Championship game. Brad McLaughlin earned the win for Columbia Union pitching the last three innings and striking out three. Five different players had a hit each for Briarcliffe.

Game 5: Presentation 2, Briarcliffe 1 Box Score
Brett Chelbecek and Kevin Mahoney had two hits each for Presentation as they came from behind to defeat Briarcliffe. Chelbecek’s single in the fourth inning drove in the winning run for the Saints. Jordan Kline pitched six innings to take the victory for Presentation allowing six hits. Dan Rodriguez had two of those six hits to lead Briarcliffe.

Game 6: Presentation 14, Columbia Union 11 Box Score
A 7-run sixth inning broke a close game open as Presentation won the other pool with a victory over Columbia Union. Presentation's Kevin Mahoney went 3-for-3 as the Saints smashed 16 hits in the romp. Matt Lokenvitz drove in three runs for Presentation who trailed 3-0 after one inning. Columbia Union made things interesting in the seventh scoring six runs and leaving two runners on to end the game while Bill Arpei was 3-for-5 for the Pioneers.
