USCAA Promotes BJ Bertges to Chief Executive Officer
Pittsburgh, PA -- The USCAA proudly announces the promotion of BJ Bertges from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. A trusted and visionary leader, Bertges has long demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the association’s mission of serving member institutions and providing student-athletes with a first-class experience.
Throughout her tenure as COO, Bertges has led with an unwavering work ethic, consistently prioritizing the needs of our members. Her “whatever it takes” approach has been instrumental in elevating the quality and consistency of the association’s championship programs and services.

She brings a unique and deeply valuable perspective to this role,” said Dr. Jennifer Laney, President of the USCAA Board of Directors. “She has lived the experience of our member institutions, both as a coach and as an administrator, and she brings that insight into every decision she makes. Her leadership is grounded by putting both the student-athletes and our member institutions at the forefront of her decision making.”
Prior to joining the USCAA national office, Bertges served at Penn State Beaver where she held roles in both athletic administration and coaching. This on-the-ground experience gives her a unique ability to see the big picture while staying connected to the day-to-day realities of student-athletes, coaches, and campus leaders.
In her new role as CEO, Bertges is poised to lead the USCAA into the future, continuing to build upon the legacy of the USCAA’s rich history. Her dedication to member service will guide the organization as it expands opportunities, enhances student-athlete experiences, and strengthens its national footprint.
