Players of the Week
Men's Basketball Division I:
Eric Johnson is the Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Johnson is a junior center at Marygrove College. Eric Johnson had his second 20 point, 10 rebound effort in a row on Saturday. This time, he compiled an impressive 25 points and 13 rebounds to go along with one steal. He shot 7-for-8 from the charity stripe, while dropping in 9 of his 13 field goals in 32 minutes of action at NAIA II, Madonna University.
Men's Basketball Division II:
Joel Stryker is the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Stryker is a sophomore guard at Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. Joel played 38 minutes in a game last week and scored 54 points, setting a school single game scoring record. He scored over half of his team's 98 points in the contest, and also added ten rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
Women's Basketball:
Sharon Houston is the Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Houston is a sophomore forward at Indiana University Northwest. Sharon has continued a fantastic season by leading her team to two victories last week., averaging 34 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Against Judson of Illinois, Sharon broke a school record with a 40 point outburst in a two point victory. IU Northwest has now won four of their last five games.
Honorable Mention
Men's Basketball Division I:
Branden Washington is the Men's DI Basketball Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Washington, a sophomore forward at Washington Adventist, scored 19 points with seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Men's Basketball Division II:
Lee Jonner is the Men's DII Basketball Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Jonner, a sophomore guard at Penn College, was named to the All-tournament team at the University of Scranton tournament, scoring 36 points, and collecting 13 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 blocks in two games.
Women's Basketball:
Keara Marks is the Women's Basketball Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Strong play from the freshman forward from Marygrove College (20 points, 11 rebounds) led her team to victory over Oberlin College last Saturday. The effort was her second 20-point game of the season. The double-double is the first of her career.
