St. Mary of the Woods Captures 2007 USCAA Softball Title

St. Mary of the Woods College completed a 5-0 run through the 2007 USCAA Softball National Championships with an 11-0 victory over Judson College in the championship game Saturday night.
Tournament MVP Ashley Loomis pitched a complete game earning her third victory of the day and also went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and drove in two as the Pomeroys went 5-0 in the event outscoring the opposition 54-6.
Allison Tomey was 3-for-3 with three runs scored while Erica Ketner was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Amanda Daniel was 2-for-2 with three runs driven in.
All three joined Loomis on the All-Tournament team. Judson College's members of the All-Tournament team included: Anna Billingham, Katie Eubanks and Ashley Glass.
Game 1: Judson College 5, Penn State-Beaver

A bases-clearing double from Anna Billingham in the bottom of the
sixth inning lifted Judson College over Penn State-Beaver. Ashley
Glass was 2-for-4 for Judson to lead the hitting attack. Misty
Jones and Katie Eubanks combined for the win on the mound. Penn
State-Beaver was paced by Jen Hain going 2-for-4 and Jamie Clouse
2-for-3.
Game 2: St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 6, Briarcliffe

Freshman Julianne Basmagy earned the win on the mound and drove in
three runs as the Lady Bears won their first game in the tournament
defeating New York rival Briarcliffe College. Briarcliffe was paced
by Laura McTaggart who was 3-for-4 with two singles and drove in
two runs.
Game 3: St. Mary of the Woods 3, Judson 0
Ashley Loomis earned the victory striking out six and allowing four
hits as the Pomeroys advanced to the winners bracket final with a
3-0 win over Judson. Allison Tomey was 3-for-4 to lead the Pomeroys
at the plate, while Ashley Glass was 2-for-2 for Judson.
Game 4: Robert Morris-Springfield 12, St.
Joseph's-Brooklyn 0 (5)
Robert Morris-Springfield amassed 12 hits en route to the 12-0
victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. Megan Rich was 2-for-3 with two
singles, two runs scored, drove in two while pitching the last two
innings striking out two and walking two. Allison Fitzgerald was
2-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs for the hosts.
Game 5: Penn State-Beaver 13, Briarcliffe 0 (5 innings -
5th place)
Chelsea Bronlee threw all five innings striking out four and
allowing five hits as Penn State-Beaver took fifth place in the
tournament defeating Briarcliffe. Brittany Moore was 2-for-2
driving in three runs while Jen Hain as 2-for-3 with two runs
scored, while Abby Mihalyi was 2-for-2 with three runs scored for
the victors.
Game 6: St. Mary of the Woods 11, Robert
Morris-Springfield 4
Ashley Loomis had a three-run home run and was 3-for-4 to put St.
Mary of the Woods into the championship game with an 11-4 win over
Robert Morris-Springfield. Theresa Alley was the winning pitcher
going the distance allowing seven hits and striking out two. Amanda
Daniel and Allison Tomey were 2-for-4 apiece for the Pomeroys.
Robert Morris-Springfield was paced by Jenette Mix who was 3-for-4
while Kristina Hoffart had a two-run double.
Game 7: Judson 4, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 1
Katie Eubanks was 2-for-3 at the plate for Judson College as they
eliminated St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 4-1. Lana Pigg was the winning
pitcher for Judson allowing four hits and striking out four as the
Eagles advanced to the third-place game.
Game 8: Judson 11, Robert Morris-Springfield 7 (3rd
place game)
The Eagles eliminated the hosts with an 11-7 victory in the
third-place game. Katie Eubanks was the winning pitcher and helped
her own cause going 3-for-4 with a grand slam home run and scoring
two runs going 3-for-4. Rikki Morrison also added a three-run home
run for Judson. Robert Morris-Springfield was paced by Megan Rich
going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI, Jenette Mix was 2-for-4 with two
runs and Jessie Shay was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
