SVU Finishes 5th With Powerful Down Town Shooting Against Robert Morris

BROKEN ARROW, OK - Southern Virginia got back to their game plan on Saturday afternoon in the USCAA Consolation Championship, hitting 48.3% from beyond the arc, and defeating #3 Robert Morris College Springfield 91-83.

Both teams came out shooting the ball well, however, Robert Morris College took the early lead.  Southern Virginia and Robert Morris continued to exchange threes much of the first half as the lead changed several times.  Southern Virginia hit a few late shots to take the 46-44 advantage into the locker room at halftime.  We saw much of the same game in the second half with both teams shooting the ball well (46.2% for SVU, 48.4% for Robert Morris).  However, Southern Virginia took a lead half way through and Robert Morris could not recover, going cold from downtown (3 of 16).

The Pendleton brothers were the main contributors to the hot Southern Virginia offense.  Bryce was good for 22 points and Chris, USCAA All-American selection, had 15 points and added 4 assists.  J.J. Holt followed them with 10 along with four other players who had 9.  Robert Morris College was led again by their USCAA All-Americans, Corley Lee and Tyler Moretto, who had 21 and 16 respectively.  Tim Hahn also had a great game for the Eagles, posting 23 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals.

Robert Morris College, who played two very close games in this tournament, come away with 6th place.    The win, which secured 5th place for Southern Virginia University, is key in their hunt for a second straight USCAA Directors Cup title.
