Halfway through the 2014-15 season, SUNY-ESF leads the USCAA Director's Cup Race

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – With the fall season in the rearview mirror and the winter season in full swing, the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks sit atop of the USCAA’s 2014-15 Director’s Cup standings. The Mighty Oaks captured their fourth straight men’s cross country National Championship, and also had top three finishes in women’s soccer and women’s cross country during the fall season. They finish the first half with 385.5 points.

Sitting right behind SUNY ESF is West Virginia University Institute of Technology with 383.5 points. WVU Tech won its second straight men’s soccer National Championship in the fall, holding off University of Maine-Fort Kent in what was a rematch from the 2013 final. WVU Tech also garnered points for a strong season in men’s golf, women’s soccer, and men’s cross country.

In third place after the fall season is SUNY Canton with 367 points. The Kangaroos finished third in women’s volleyball, sixth in men’s golf, and had solid showings in both men’s and women’s cross country. Rounding out the top five are Alfred State College (360.5 points) and Berea College (350 points).

Director’s Cup points are awarded for number of sport offerings and are also based on results from USCAA National Championship events. The winter standings will be released following the 2014 USCAA National Basketball Championships.
